About R and R Studio

It is recommended that R and R Studio be downloaded and used simultaneously. R is the programming language used for statistical computing while RStudio uses the R language to develop statistical programs. It is possible to use R to write a program and run the code independently of other programs, however if you use RStudio you must use R in order for it to function properly.

  • Uses include: data manipulation, statistical modeling, graphics, writing software.

Accessing R and RStudio

R And R Studio statistical analysis software is open source. This means it is available free! It has also been approved for use on NTG assets.

To have R and R Studio installed on an NTG asset, simply request from the IT Service Catalogue > Request Something > Non Microsoft Software - All Agencies, complete and submit the form. This software has been approved across all NTG agencies
