NT Health Resources

NT Health is committed to implementing prevention and awareness strategies to help people feel safe and create mentally healthy workplaces. Taking time to rest and recharge is essential for our overall wellbeing. In caring professions, it can be challenging for staff to plan regular leave breaks, but it remains of utmost importance.

NT Health has a range of supports available through Healthy@Work, Wellbeing and the NTPS Mentally Healthy Workplaces Toolkit.

There are a number of support services you can reach out to for further advice, assistance and information.

 


 

Wellbeing and Self-care Online Training

This is an online course produced by Territory Families but is open to all NTG employees. It provides information and guidance to inform and support staff wellbeing in the workplace and provides practical tips for self-care.

Topics covered in this course are:

  • Identifying and understanding stress
  • Traumatic events (understanding whether you have been hurt or harmed by something that has happened in your life)
  • The long-term consequences of trauma (understanding how some things that happen in your life can affect you for a long time)
  • Job burnout (experiencing stress in the workplace)
  • Wellbeing and self-care
  • Support services (how we can help you in the workplace).

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. Headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

Beyond Blue works with the community to improve mental health and prevent suicide, so that all people in Australia can achieve their best possible mental health. Beyond Blue is focused on supporting people affected by anxiety, depression and suicide.

LifeLine is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. LifeLine is committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope.

Mind provides practical and motivational support that helps people to develop the skills they need to move on, thrive and improve the quality of their lives. This includes helping people with the things that make them feel strong and healthy, such as being in control of their life, being resilient and participating in their community

The 5 Ways To Wellbeing organisation has a quiz that allows you to assess your current state of overall wellbeing. They also have some tools and resources such as sensory modulation, how to focus on strengths and practicing gratitude and gratefulness.

Health and Wellbeing Index App

The Health and Wellbeing Index (App) measures and addresses mental wellbeing to help improve the health and wellbeing of individuals.  It’s free, confidential and helps you review your wellbeing status every 7 days.  There are only 7 questions to complete to give you a real time indication of your wellbeing level and access to different resources.

Headgear App

The Black Dog Institute HeadGear app guides you through a 30–day mental fitness challenge designed to build resilience and wellbeing and the mycompass tool can help better recognise the early signs of and prevent various stress outcomes and burnout.
