What is a Research Impact?
Research Impact is defined by the Australian Research Council as:
"Research impact is the demonstrable contribution that research makes to the economy, society, culture, national security, public policy or services, health, the environment, or quality of life, beyond contributions to academia."
The imperative to demonstrate the value of research and the return on financial investment for research activities has become increasingly important. Many funding bodies, such as the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the National Health and Medical research Council (NHMRC), require the researcher to demonstrate how well they engage with the "end-user" of their research and the impact of said research on society, environment and economy.
There are many ways to track and demonstrate the impact of your research.
