Membership & Borrowing

First, check our Library Membership page to see if you’re eligible for membership of the Health Library, and then submit the relevant online registration form that can be found on the same page.

NT Health staff can borrow 8 items for up to 4 weeks. NT Medical Program staff and students (3rd & 4th year only) can borrow 4 items from the main collection and 4 items from the JCU & Flinders collections. To find out what other member types can borrow, see the Library Membership page.

Yes. You can do this one of two ways. Either contact your nearest Health Library and talk to one of our helpful staff, or you can place the hold yourself using your library account. Find the book on the library catalogue and click on ‘Place Hold’. Enter your library card number as your login and your surname with a capital letter (e.g. Jones) as your password and click ‘Log In’. Choose a pick up location and click ‘Place Hold’. The library will then contact you when a copy of this book is available for you to borrow.

Of course! The 5 health libraries in the NT are all part of the same network, so if you’re a library member you can access services and resources from any of them. To request a book from any of our libraries you can either contact us or you can request the book online using your library account. Find the book on the library catalogue and click on ‘Place Hold’. Enter your library card number as your login and your surname with a capital letter (e.g. Jones) as your password and click ‘Log In’. Choose a pick up location and click ‘Place Hold’. The library will then contact you when a copy of this book is available for you to borrow.

All NT Health staff who are members of the library can use our Resource Delivery service (also known as Interlibrary Loans) to obtain journal articles or books that the library doesn’t have. This service is for obtaining resources for work related purposes only.

You can access your library account via the library catalogue. The log in function is located at the top right hand side of the page and you sign in using your library card number as your login and your surname with a capital letter (e.g. Jones) as your password and click Log In. From here you can check what items you have checked out, what requests / holds you have waiting, change your password or even see your reading history. For any problems logging in to your library account, Ask Us.

If you have recently had overdue books or if your account is expired you may find you are locked out of your account. Contact us and to have your account unlocked.

Of course! The Health Library offers a full range of services to NT Health staff who work in remote areas, including borrowing, training, access to electronic resources and research assistance. To find out more, contact contact your nearest Health Library.

That depends. NT Medical Program students and eligible health professionals can join the library, providing they meet a number of conditions. Find out if you’re eligible for membership by going to the Library Membership page or Ask Us.

Electronic Resources

All NT Health employees are assigned an ePass (electronic passport) which allows you to access our online resources from any computer, whether you're at work or at home. Just go to the library's website at http://library.health.nt.gov.au, choose an online resource and enter your ePass details when prompted. For assistance with ePass, contact the NTG Service Desk on 1800 000 254.

To set up your ePass account or to reset your password, contact the NTG Service Desk on 1800 000 254.

"Get it! DoH" is a service that provides access to online journals and improves linking between the e-journal collection and databases subscribed to by the library. The "Get it! DoH" button appears when browsing the list of electronic journals as well as in the search results in databases such as Medline. If you click on the button, it will either take you to the individual article or, if that's not possible, to the e-journal that you want to look at.

Training & Room Bookings

First, visit our Room Bookings page and select a room that best suits your needs. Click the Book Now link for instructions on how to book your room through your Outlook calendar. Please note that your room booking is not confirmed until you have received an email response from the library.

Other

Easy! Try cutting and pasting the title of the article into the Search tool on the front page of our website. If we have access to that article you will be able to view or download it as a PDF.

After-hours access to the Darwin and Alice Springs Health Libraries is available to eligible library members. To find out if you are entitled to after-hours access, see the Library Membership page.
