About PubMed

PubMed is a free database, produced by the US National Library of Medicine, that provides free access to MEDLINE, the NLM database of indexed citations and abstracts to medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, health care, and preclinical sciences journal articles.

It also includes additional selected life sciences journals that are not indexed in MEDLINE.

PubMed App

The PubMed for Handhelds (PubMed4Hh) app assists in discovering relevant health information at the National Library of Medicine. It features:

  • PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome): search with a well-formulated clinical query
  • askMEDLINE: a free-text, natural language search
  • Consensus Abstracts: finding and selecting concurring abstracts from independent, validated research
  • BabelMeSH: search PubMed MEDLINE in 13 languages
Once installed, this app does not require an internet connection. 
 

Instructions

  1. Using your mobile device, go to the App Store or Google Play store and search for 'PubMed for Handhelds''.
  2. Download the app.
  3. The app is now ready to use.

PubMed Mobile Platform

The PubMed Mobile Platform allows live searching of the PubMed database using your mobile device.

This platform requires an internet connection to run.
