Historical Collection

The Historical Collection houses items pertaining to the history of medicine, nursing and public health in the NT, including material on tropical medicine, leprosy and malaria.

Items in the Historical Collection have been acquired over the years through donations and acquisitions.

Access to the collection


Items in the collection are held at the Darwin Health Library and Alice Springs Health Library and most items may not be borrowed. Contact Library Services to view special collection items

What is in the Historical collection?


The collection consists of

  • 1843 items dating back to the 1800s

  • Books, annual reports, publications, conference papers

  • Material relevant to medicine, nursing, health services and health administration in the NT, public health and tropical diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and leprosy
