April 2025

Celebrating the success of Research Support Week 2025!
Library Services' Research Support Week 2025 was held recently from 24-28 March. The event ran across the Territory with Health staff in all regions taking advantage of activities offered during the week.

The program included a research poster competition, specialised training on health statistics from NT Health Statistics and Informatics team and the Clinical Analytics team, lightning talks and other activities, such as a pop-up Library at RDH staff café and the wards at Alice Springs Hospital.

The highlight was the Showcase morning held at the Menzies Auditorium with participants at Alice Springs Hospital and other locations joining via MS Teams. This event included the launch of the new NT Health Research and Publications Online (NTHRPO) repository. Guest speakers from across NT Health spoke about research priorities and support in their disciplines.

Chief Executive, Chris Hosking was present at the Showcase morning at Alice Springs. In his address he affirmed and encouraged the importance of all research being conducted in the Northern Territory. Chris also announced the winners of the Research Poster competition and presented the prizes and certificates to the winners.

The Library Services team would like to thank everyone who presented at the week’s events or who helped to deliver this successful event. Thank you also to the 150 people who expanded their research capacity through their attendance of one or more of the sessions held.

Research poster competition winners
A huge thank you to all entrants and judges for making the research poster competition a success! We received a total of 10 research posters, an incredible variety of submissions, presenting new original research and program implementation related to improving patient outcomes.

The posters were judged by Naomi Morick (Director of Nursing Midwifery Education, ASH) and Nicole Norman (Director Nursing and Midwifery (CLEaRS), RDH). The judging criteria was based on clarity, organisation, visual appeal and key information conveyed using headings such as objectives, methods, results and conclusion.

Congratulations to all winners:

1st Prize: Elizabeth Ross and Alana Sweeney: Trauma Service, NCCTRC, RDH
2nd Prize: Dr Allison Gray: Central Australian Safety and Quality Manager, ASH
3rd Prize: Emil Tabbada (and team): Respiratory Clinical Nurse Coordinator, ASH
