Rural and remote health resources
Rural Health Month is an annual celebration held every November, dedicated to rural health professionals and offers a month-long program, gathering hundreds of rural health professionals for learning, networking, and connecting.

Research lightning talks
The Library Services team is excited to host Research Support Lightning Talks via TEAMS on Tuesday, November 25, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

The 15-minute sessions will cover:

  1. Hints and tips for getting your research published
  2. Improving research visibility through creating and maintaining author profiles
  3. Using AI in literature searching - harness the power of AI tools to find relevant studies quickly, stay up to date, and uncover insights you might otherwise miss
  4. Managing references using Zotero software - simplify organizing, citing, and sharing your references to save time and avoid errors

Dynamic Heath (has replaced Nursing Reference Centre) is an evidenced based point-of care tool to help nurses and allied health professionals find answers quickly. Content includes overviews on:

  • patient information and more.

Saara Kahkonen recognised for dedication to profession

Congratulations to Health Collections Librarian Saara Kahkonen, who has been awarded Distinguished Certified Professional status through the Australian Librarian and Information Association. A dedicated librarian with a passion for learning, Saara is a valued member of the NT Health Library team, and is recognised for her agility, collaboration, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Her curiosity and commitment to continuous learning enhance workplace practices and strengthen library services. Congratulations Saara!

Outcomes post kidney transplantation amongst First Nations Australians in the Northern Territory

Compares graft and patient survival rates following deceased donor kidney transplantation in Northern Territory (NT) First Nations Australians between 2001–2011 and 2012-2021 and outcomes between First Nations and non-Indigenous Australians during 2012-2021 and assesses the impact of eplet mismatches and predicted indirectly recognizable HLA epitopes II (PIRCHE) scores on transplant outcomes in First Nations Australians.

Improving equitable cancer treatment in Australia: the case for theranostics in the Northern Territory

A narrative retrospective analysis of the provision of nuclear medicine services within the NT at the Royal Darwin Hospital was undertaken to determine the suitability and relevance of the establishment of a new theranostic service within the NT, catered to the specific needs of the local population and in particular of the large proportion of First Nations Patients that are likely to benefit from the local service.
